Our Story
Tale as old as time—we met on Grindr on October 29, 2016. Our first date was a Saturday morning in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C. where we both lived. We spent 22 hours together, eating Pica Taco for lunch and Wok & Roll sushi for dinner. We felt like an us from the moment we met. And just like that, eight years has gone by.
On October 30, 2021, Seth suggested we have breakfast at the Diner—another one of our Adams Morgan favorites—followed by a walk on the Mall. As we strolled the Tidal Basin, once the Jefferson Memorial was framed behind us, Seth proposed, genuinely surprising Jacob (for the most part). Jacob blissfully agreed and we added a second significant October date to our story.
On October 13, 2024, we look forward to you joining us to celebrate the next chapter in our story, our wedding day, in Charlottesville, Virginia—a city that means so much to both of us. Come share in the history, food, hospitality and Virginia wine that fill us with joy.

Charlottesville
Virginia is for Lovers
Why C'ville? One of our favorite shared hobbies is spending weekends exploring bucolic Virginia and Pennsylvania, antiquing and finding peaceful Airbnbs with sprawling views. In the process, we’ve fallen in love with Charlottesville. Its gorgeous landscape and rich history are just the start. Charlottesville has fantastic restaurants and is at the heart of Virginia's burgeoning wine country. Charlottesville is convenient to Washington and unites Jacob’s love of the Old Dominion with Seth’s desire to be near the mountains. Check out our local recommendations here.

Venue
James Monroe’s Highland
We love history and Highland is a special, historical site with an ongoing story. Originally the home of James Monroe (1799-1826), fifth U.S. President, Highland sits nestled beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains. Today it is an archaeological site, working farm and research facility owned and operated by William & Mary. In addition to president, Monroe served as the 12th & 16th Governor of Va. and U.S. Senator from Va.
After the wedding ceremony, throughout cocktail hour, the museum will be open. We hope all of our guests will take advantage of this opportunity.
