Refined Casual Americana

Our wedding attire is refined casual Americana, which could also be expressed as business casual, rustic chic, farm formal or semi-casual. Please come wedding-ready, but remember Highland is a working farm and the sidewalks are uneven brick pavers à la James Monroe's day, so sensible footwear is appropriate.

Americana means the clothes some of you were likely to wear anyway but with an invitation to lean boldly into the classics. Americana is unapologetically over-the-top.

Americana is high-low: jeans with ties, casual footwear with designer duds. It’s preppy, it's pattern mixing, color blocking; it's Ralph Lauren as much as it is Nike. It’s seersucker, saddle shoes, Levi's, flag sweaters and fraternity stripes. It’s all things GAP. It’s white bucks, cable knits, crisp khakis, banker stripe oxfords and Bass Weejuns.

Still need ideas? Scroll our fashion inspiration board below. And no, dated rules about post-Labor Day whites and seersucker do not apply in the South.

Come comfortably and proudly yourself—that is Americana.
